001_Architecture is an assemblage of Sean’s architectural practice across multiple media. It coherentley explores the concept of “post-design system“, which seeks to decentralize the design objectivity around humans. In the projects presented, instead of employing technologies merely to replace labor, the
intention is to assess the technological framework and critically engage with them. Existing as one hybrid between physical and digital, the “post-architecture“ negotiate the clear-cut bewteen “traditional” and “digital” by constructing a symbiotic relashionship with the social, cultural, and aesthetic territories

002_Media is a phygital laboratory where emerging technologies are critically engaged to produce hybrid and immersive media art experiences. As the technical gadgets for designers are rapidly evolving and constantly iterated, the collection of work offers the vision of phygital world building at the conjunction of extended reality experience, media art, and cyberphysical construct.&#38;nbsp;

003_Wearables&#38;nbsp;is where Sean’s design thinking expands into bodily interface. Here garment transcends its default definition of utility and mutates into an amalgamation of aesthetic language, technicity, experimentation, and storytelling. By pushing the boundaries of what is possible through the intersection of media, technology, and narration, fashion becomes a vehicle for the thinning threshold between body, ambience, and beyond.

Sean (Han) Meng is a Chinese born multidisciplinary designer based in Los Angeles. Trained as an architect, his work moves across architecture, fashion, and object design, approaching each discipline as part of a continuous design field. He received a Bachelor of Architecture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from the IDEAS program at the University of California Los Angeles.


His research and design interests focus on constructing a multi-agent design system ​(seam) that bridges disciplinary domains (patch), exploring the intersection of emerging technologies, computational design, and material systems. Through this framework, he investigates how design methodologies can migrate across scales and mediums, from built environments to garments and objects.


Sean has contributed to architectural projects at Woods Bagot, Isozaki &#38;amp; HuQian Partners, and PMA+Plasma. He also worked as a research assistant at Epiphyte Lab, where he helped prototype a machine learning pipeline that predicts ecological growth patterns on architectural surfaces. His research was published as co-author in the paper Lithopic House: Computational Design Framework for re-Shaping Ecologically Attuned Architectural Systems out of Granular Matter at the ACADIA 2022 conference Hybrids and Haecceities.


Parallel to his architectural work, Sean has explored fashion as a spatial and material practice. At Carnegie Mellon University he designed and produced the runway collections Evanescens and Re:partus for the Lunar Gala Fashion Show.

Lithopic co-House is the demonstration of a computational design

Filum: Metaverse Business
Filum seeks to speculate a hybrid logistic in fashion industry by creating a seamless and immersive experience assisted XR
technologies. When physical environment is digitally-enhanced, space becomes portals to a series of virtual interfaces that
incubate new types of engagements and connections.&#38;nbsp;

The project transfer the Transamerica Pyramid into a headquarter for a future fashion retailing company focusing on fashion and appareal. Challenging the conventional methodology of organizing the building horizontally and stacking programs on to each other, the project proposes a vertical and organic strategy accommodating its programmatic requirements. Artificial intellengence and parametric tools were employed to
prototype an iterative and high fidelity design process.

Due to the heterogenous spatial
requirement of the programs, the concept of strands was developed as the driven
factor of the form. Challenging the conventional methodology of organizing the
building horizontally and stacking programs on to each other, the project proposes
an vertical
and organic strategy
accommodating its programmatic requirements.The form is based on a grid of vertical
strands each assigned to a primary program (from recycled factory and fashion
retail). 

Just like how strands behave in textile manufacturing process, the
functional cores interact with each other through the notion of knotting,
bracing, and varying its thickness, to collectively generate the global form,
plan typology, and void/solid relationship of the building.&#38;nbsp;

The moment where the strands meet vertically are revealed in plan organization. The threshold was established to maintain the privacy required by office space, hub and incubator, while keeping a generous vertical volume that could be access by everyone. Bridging the cultural space and retail space, a vertical runway acts as a visual connection between the two. As the building rises vertically, the formal displacement from the elevation nurtures various plan typologies and spatial experiences curated by the circulation network to create a unique experience for each floor.

		<description>Ambivalent Bounds
Propinquity means physical proximity, a kinship between people, or a similarity in nature between things. The notion of Propinquity, the initial prompt of the project, ties into the exploration of interiority, program heterogeneity, and material effect. Situated at a dense and rigid site condition, this building negotiates with the constraints of the site boundary to be able to dissolve within its urban context, stimulating an intimate connection. Through the permeable envelope, the unique city context is treated as patches and weaved into internal space; the collections will be recognized as part of the facades. Ultimately, the museum creates a reciprocal dialogue among people, city and culture.

Through the integration of extended reality garments and algorithmic art, the project seeks to establish a hybrid domain that offers multifaceted sensory encounters. This approach facilitates a more immersive fashion experience that dissolves the boundaries between physical and virtual spaces. Consequently, the project expands the perception of physical reality to cyberspace, introducing a novel form of fashion that reimagines and interrogates conventional concepts of physicality.

Rete 2.0 aims to explore the potential of digital fashion as a medium that negotiates the physical and virtual property of bodily interface. Based on a series of contemporary garment sihlouettes that register the physical formality of clothing, the project overlays generative digital visual contents displaying throughout the garments. Through the empowerment of cyberphysical features, the garment became a medium that absorbs, reflects, and coexists with the ambient environment .&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;
